St. Mary's County Sheriff's Reports


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (April 3, 2011)—The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

DRIVING WHILE SUSPENDED, THEFT: On March 30, Deputy Vezzosi stopped a Ford van in the area of Golden Beach Road and Three Notch Road in Mechanicsville. The registration plates displayed on the van were expired. The driver initially provided Deputy Vezzosi with factious name. Further investigation identified the driver as Kip Joseph Ramos, 34, of Colonial Beach, Virginia. Ramos's privilege to operate a motor vehicle was suspended in Maryland and Virginia. Further investigation revealed the sticker indicating the year of the registration which was affixed to the registration plate was stolen from Virginia. Ramos was arrested and charged with driving while suspended and theft less then $100.

VIOLATION OF A PROTECTIVE ORDER: On March 8, Jessie George Panagakos, 22, of Lexington Park, was served with a protective order ordering that he have no contact or enter onto the property/residence of the petitioner of the order. The order is effective until March 8, 2012. On March 31, Panagakos violated the conditions of the order by entering onto the property at the residence of the petitioner. Panagakos was arrested and charged with violating the conditions of the protective order.

SECOND DEGREE ASSAULT: On April 2, Corporal Molitor responded to a residence on Point Lookout Road in Great Mills for a report of an assault. Investigation revealed Jerome NMN Washington, 34, of Lexington Park, was engaged in a verbal dispute with the victim which escalated into a physical assault when Washington struck the victim in the face. Washington fled the scene prior to the arrival of deputies but was located in the area a short time later. Washington was arrested and charged with second degree assault.

DRIVING WHILE SUSPENDED, DRUG ARREST: On April 3 at approximately 3:30 a.m., Dfc. Meyer stopped a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe for a traffic violation. The operator was identified as Omigar Ralph Jefferies, Jr., 26, of Park Hall. Further investigation revealed Jefferies' privilege to operate a motor vehicle in Maryland was suspended. He was arrested for driving while suspended and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. Once at the detention center, a thorough search of Jefferies' person and clothing was conducted per detention center policy. Jefferies was found to be in possession of a controlled dangerous substance, suspected marijuana. Jefferies was charged additionally with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of a controlled dangerous substance while in a place of confinement.
