Panel Analyzes U.S. Interrogation, Detention Practices During 'War on Terror' Oct. 14


ST. MARY’S CITY, Md. (October 13, 2010)—Award-winning investigative filmmaker Sherry Jones will host a panel discussion on U.S. policies on detention and interrogation during the “War on Terror” at 6:15 p.m. Thursday, October 14, in Cole Cinema in the Campus Center at St. Mary’s College of Maryland. Panelists include Marine Lt. Colonel Stuart Couch, a veteran military pilot and prosecutor, who refused to prosecute a prisoner at Guantanamo prison; Harper’s Online blog author Scott Horton; and Tom Wilner, a D.C. attorney who was counsel to Guantanamo detainees in two landmark Supreme Court cases.

The event, “A Government of Laws and Not of Men: Accountability and the War on Terror,” is part of a series of lectures and film screenings sponsored by the Center for the Study of Democracy to raise awareness of human rights issues throughout the world.

The discussion is free and open to the public.
