MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (October 13, 2010)—The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) recently released the following incident and arrest reports.

ASSAULT 2ND DEGREE: On Tuesday, October 5 at 1:21pm, Tpr. S. M. Ditoto responded to the 43000 block of Megan Lane in Leonardtown for a reported assault. Upon arrival, contact was made with a female complainant, 32, of Leonardtown, who advised that at approximately 10:00am, she was involved in a dispute with Clifford Mikel Adkins, 58, of Leonardtown. The female advised during the course of the dispute she was struck in the head with an ashtray. Tpr. Ditoto observed evidence that supported the complainant's claims and also spoke with Mr. Adkins. As a result Mr. Adkins was arrested for Second Degree Assault and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. He was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

ASSAULT 2ND DEGREE, DISORDERLY CONDUCT: On Wednesday, October 6 at 1:50am, TFC J. S. Gibson responded to the 44000 block of Clarks Landing Road in Hollywood for a reported disturbance. Upon arrival, contact was made with the owner of the residence who advised that Kathryn Elizabeth Gelrud, 22, of Lexington Park, was asked to leave the residence and was refusing to do so. TFC Gibson then made contact with Ms. Gelrud and advised her that she would need to leave the property. Again, Ms. Gelrud refused to leave, and in the course of TFC Gibson attempting to escort her off the property, she assaulted him. Ms. Gelrud was subsequently placed under arrested and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. Kathryn Gelrud was charged accordingly, issued a notice not to trespass, and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

ASSAULT 2ND DEGREE: On Wednesday, October 6 at 5:32pm, Tpr. S. M. Ditoto responded to the 25000 block of Point Lookout Road in Leonardtown for a reported assault. Once on scene, Tpr. Ditoto made contact with Cpl. S. B. Koch who witnessed the assault occur while at a traffic light in Leonardtown. Cpl. Koch observed the passenger in a silver Ford truck climb over into the driver's seat, which was occupied. Once in the driver's seat, a struggle ensued between the driver and the passenger. Cpl. Koch directed the vehicle to pull over. Tpr. Ditoto subsequently made contact with the female driver, 35, of Chaptico, who advised she was involved in an argument and assaulted by a juvenile male, 16, of Chaptico. The juvenile was arrested for Second Degree Assault and transported to the State Police Barrack. He was released to a guardian pending further action by juvenile services.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Thursday, October 7 at 2:46pm, TFC G. A. Thompson, arrested Jamie M. Stroud, 27, of Mechanicsville, on a bench warrant (T3-14578) issued by the District Court of St. Mary's County. The warrant was issued on September 15 with an original charge of Failing to Pay a Deferred Payment. Ms. Stroud was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

ASSAULT 2ND DEGREE: On Friday, October 8 at 5:45pm, TFC J. A. Pilkerton responded to the 38000 block of New Market Turner Road in Mechanicsville for a reported assault in progress. Upon arrival, contact was made with a female victim, 50, of Mechanicsville, who advised while engaged in an argument with Robert Hugh Cassity, 45, of Mechanicsville, she was struck in the face. Information provided by the victim and a female complainant, 18, of Mechanicsville, resulted in the arrest of Robert Cassity for Second Degree Assault. Mr. Cassity was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

THEFT UNDER $1000, DRUG ARREST: On Friday, October 8 at 6:08pm, TFC G. A. Thompson and TFC C. M. Evans responded to the Sally Beauty Supply at 22599 Mac Arthur Boulevard in California for a reported shoplifter. Upon arrival, contact was made with a female complainant, 33, of Hughesville, that provided both troopers with a description of the shoplifter. Upon exiting the store, contact was made with Janie Marie Colandrea, 43, of Mechanicsville, who matched the description provided. Ms. Colandrea was found to be in possession of multiple items that had not been purchased. The items were confiscated and returned to the retail establishment. A search incident to arrest, revealed various pills, considered controlled substances hidden in Ms. Colandrea's purse. Upon identifying all pills, Ms. Colandrea was arrested and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. She was charged accordingly and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Friday, October 8 at 9:25pm, TFC M. J. Pitcher served a bench warrant (T3-13409) on Kevin Antonio White, 28, of Laurel. Mr. White was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center from the Baltimore County Detention Center for the outstanding warrant. The warrant was issued by the District Court of St. Mary's County on May 20, 2008 with an original charge of Driving Under the Influence and Driving On A Suspended License. Mr. White was held at the Detention Center pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Sunday, October 10 at 10:35am, TFC N. E. Gresko arrested Ohmer W. Webb, 26, of Mechanicsville, on an outstanding bench warrant (T3-14604) issued by the District Court of St. Mary's County. The original charge was Driving Under the Influence when the warrant was issued on September 29. Mr. Webb was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Monday, October 11 at 12:15am, TFC M. J. Pitcher arrested Paula Jo Smith, 44, of Great Mills, on an outstanding bench warrant (T3-14612) issued by the District Court of St. Mary's County. The warrant was issued on October 5 with an original charge of Driving On A Suspended License. Ms. Smith was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.
