MSP Reports for Calvert County


PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (August 24, 2010) - The Prince Frederick Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

STOLEN VEHICLE: On August 18 at 8:30 p.m., TFC Saucerman investigated a report of a stolen vehicle. The vehicle was stolen from the shoulder of Route 4 at Calvert Cliffs Parkway. The vehicle is a green 1992 Ford Mustang with MD tag 6FWL59. The investigation is continuing.

POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA: On August 20 at 10:04 p.m., Trooper Parker responded to the 5100 block of Macs Hollow Road in Prince Frederick to check the welfare of the residents after a 911 call was placed from the home and the caller hung up before giving any information to the operator. While at the residence, an odor of Marijuana was detected. Marijuana and drug paraphernalia were observed on a table. Sylvester M. Willett, 33 of Prince Frederick, was arrested and incarcerated at the Calvert County Detention Center. There was no emergency at the residence and it is unknown why a 911 call was placed.

DUI, RESISTING ARREST: On August 21 at 2:33 a.m., TFC Bowling attempted to stop a vehicle for traffic violations on Rt. 231 prior to Sixes Road in Prince Frederick. The driver refused to stop and attempted to elude the Trooper. The suspect's vehicle continued at high speeds on Rt. 231 into Prince Frederick and then proceeded southbound onto Rt. 4. The vehicle continued to Stamper Court where the driver stopped the vehicle and fled. Troopers chased the driver and caught him behind a row of townhouses. He was arrested after a brief struggle. Lionel I. Montgomery, 35 of Prince Frederick, was charged with DUI, resisting arrest and multiple traffic charges. He was incarcerated at the Calvert County Detention Center.

ATTEMPTED THEFT: On August 21 at 7:29 a.m., Trooper Smith responded to the 3600 block of Dory Brook Road in Chesapeake Beach for a report of an attempted theft from an unlocked vehicle. The victim's car was entered while it was parked in the driveway. The contents were scattered but nothing was stolen. The investigation continues.

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: On August 21 at 11:11 p.m., Trooper West responded to the 10200 block of Kirksville Lane in Dunkirk for a reported destruction of property. Investigation revealed that LaTorya N. Barnett, 23 of Shady Side, used a metal club to strike the victim's vehicle. Charges are pending.

DUI, POSSESSION OF DRUGS: On August 22 at 1:55 a.m., Trooper Logsdon stopped a vehicle for traffic violations HG Trueman Road at Cove Point Road in Lusby. Allen L. Ledford, Jr., 35 of Lusby, was arrested for DUI. A search revealed Oxcodone and Suboxone pills. He was incarcerated at the Calvert County Detention Center.

CHECKPOINT STRIKEFORCE HITTING THE STREETS: Once again, the State of Maryland will be participating in the regional "Checkpoint Strikeforce" effort. This is an intensive law enforcement mobilization to get impaired drivers off our roadways. Police personnel are using checkpoints and saturation patrols in specific areas and during peak hours, where drunk driving is most likely to occur. This effort combines high visibility checkpoints to create awareness of enforcement and educate the public regarding the dangers and consequences of drunk driving. The Maryland State Police, Prince Frederick Barrack, along with local law enforcement, will be conducting sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols beginning August 20th, and will continue these operations through the remainder of the calendar year.
