MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (August 10, 2010) - The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

BURGLARY 1ST DEGREE, ASSAULT 2ND DEGREE: On Thursday, August 5 at 1:56pm, Cpl. K. M. Rossignol responded to the 22000 block of Cornwall Drive in California for a reported assault. Upon arrival, Cpl. Rossignol made contact with a female complainant, 24, of California, and several witnesses, all of whom advised that Kyle Justin Turner, 22, of Windsor Mill, assaulted the female complainant and a witness after entering the residence without permission. Mr. Turner made entry into the residence via an unlocked door and assaulted the female complainant while attempting to force her to exit the residence. Following the assault, Mr. Turner left the residence but was later apprehended by TFC M. J. Pitcher in the area of Maryland Route 235 and Maryland Route 245. Mr. Turner was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. He was charged with First Degree Burglary and Second Degree Assault. Mr. Turner was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

DRUG ARREST: On Thursday, August 5 at 2:04pm, TFC M. J. Pitcher observed an orange 1997 Ford Crown Victoria at the Burch Mart on Maryland Route 235 and Sotterly Road. The vehicle was identified as a suspect vehicle in a domestic assault that occurred previously. The occupants of the vehicle also matched the description given by law enforcement personnel. Upon making contact with the driver, TFC M. J. Pitcher identified Cassi Lynn Larson, 24, of Laurel, by her Maryland Drivers License. The passenger in the vehicle, Kyle J. Turner, was arrested in relation to previous assault. A subsequent search of the vehicle due to information provided during the assault investigation resulted in the discovery of CDS - Not Marijuana. Ms. Larson was arrested for Possession of CDS and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. Ms. Larson will be held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Friday, August 6 at 7:30am, TFC G. A. Thompson arrested Douglas Brian Cooke, 51, of Mechanicsville, on a bench warrant (T3-14502) issued by the District Court of St. Mary's County. The warrant was issued on July 8 with an original charge of Driving an Uninsured Vehicle. Mr. Cooke was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

BURGLARY 2ND DEGREE: On Friday, August 6 at 5:30pm, Cpl. S. B. Koch responded to the 45000 block of Medleys Neck Road in Valley Lee for a reported burglary. Upon arrival, contact was made with a male complainant, 48, of Valley Lee, who advised unknown subjects entered a shed on his property and removed items of value. The burglary is believed to have occurred between July 30 and August 6. Items have been entered into the METERS/NCIC system; this investigation is ongoing. Any information pertaining to this case may be forwarded to the Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack.

DRUG ARREST:On Friday, August 6 at 9:39pm, TFC N. E. Gresko conducted a traffic stop on a black Volkswagen Jetta in the area of Maryland Route 235 and Sandy Bottom Road for a traffic violation. Upon making contact with the driver, Andrew Joseph Isaza, 21, of La Plata, a METERS/NCIC query revealed that Mr. Isaza did not have valid drivers license. Mr. Isaza was placed under arrest for Driving Without a License. A search incident to arrest also revealed CDS on Mr. Isaza's person. Andrew Isaza was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and charged with Driving Without a License and Possession of Marijuana. He was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Saturday, August 7 at 6:47am, TFC M. B. Adams and Tpr. S. Morton arrested Brian Marcus McCathern, 30, of Lexington Park, on a bench warrant (T3-14539) issued by the District Court of St. Mary's County. The warrant was issued on August 5 with an original charge of CDS Possession - Not Marijuana. Mr. McCathern was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner. During a procedural search once in Detention Center facilities, Mr. McCathern was found to be in Possession of Cocaine. The CDS was located in a hidden pocket on Mr. McCathern's person, he was charged accordingly.

DRUG ARREST: On Saturday, August 7 at 10:46am, TFC M. J. Pitcher conducted a traffic stop in the area of Northbound Maryland Route 235 and Exploration Drive on a black Honda Accord for a traffic violation. Upon making contact with the driver, TFC Pitcher detected the odor of burnt marijuana emitting from the vehicle. A probable cause search of the vehicle revealed four marijuana cigarettes. Arrested for Possession of Marijuana was Patrick Bradley Johnson, 20, of Lexington Park. Mr. Johnson was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT: On Saturday, August 7 at 8:28pm, Cpl. S. B. Koch responded to the 25000 block of Loveville Road for a reported motor vehicle theft. Upon arrival, contact was made with a female complainant, 34, of Mechanicsville, advised that John Michael Davis, 45, of Mechanicsville, had unlawfully removed a motor vehicle from the residence. Contact with the owner of the vehicle confirmed that Mr. Davis was utilizing the vehicle without permission and that criminal charges were desired for the theft. Prior to the motor vehicle being entered into METERS/NCIC, Mr. Davis returned to the residence. Mr. Davis was arrested for Motor Vehicle Theft and additionally charged with Driving Under the Influence after failing field sobriety. Mr. Davis was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Tuesday, August 10 at 1:10am, TFC M. B. Adams and Tpr. S. Morton arrested Christopher M. Roach, 32, of Great Mills on a bench warrant (T3-14536) issued by the District Court of St. Mary's County. The warrant was issued on July 30 with an original charge of CDS Possession - Not Marijuana and CDS Possession - Paraphernalia. Mr. Roach was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and will be held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.
