Summer Hours for Charles County Centers, Schools Changed for Energy Savings


LA PLATA, Md. (June 29, 2010)—Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) is changing its summer office hours, which will affect all CCPS schools and centers that do not have extended day or community services programs. These locations are being placed on a 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. schedule. The schedule remains in effect until August 23.

The following elementary schools will follow the summer schedule:

-- C. Paul Barnhart Elementary School;
-- Berry Elementary School;
-- Dr. Gustavus Brown Elementary School;
-- Dr. James Craik Elementary School;
-- William A. Diggs Elementary School;
-- Gale-Bailey Elementary School;
-- Dr. Thomas L. Higdon Elementary School;
-- Indian Head Elementary School;
-- J.C. Parks Elementary School;
-- Malcolm Elementary School;
-- T.C. Martin Elementary School;
-- Mary H. Matula Elementary School;
-- Arthur Middleton Elementary School;
-- Walter J. Mitchell Elementary School;
-- Dr. Samuel A. Mudd Elementary School;
-- Mt. Hope/Nanjemoy Elementary School;
-- Mary B. Neal Elementary School;
-- J.P. Ryon Elementary School; and
-- Eva Turner Elementary School.

Offices at Theodore G. Davis, Piccowaxen and General Smallwood middle schools, North Point, Westlake and Maurice J. McDonough high schools, the Robert D. Stethem Educational Center and the Jesse L. Starkey Administration Building will also close at 3:30 p.m. for the summer.

Schools and centers that have extended-day programs, including Charles County Parks and Recreation programs, will operate to accommodate program schedules and include:

-- John Hanson Middle School;
-- Matthew Henson Middle School;
-- Mattawoman Middle School;
-- Milton M. Somers Middle School;
-- Benjamin Stoddert Middle School;

-- La Plata High School;
-- Thomas Stone High School;
-- F.B. Gwynn Educational Center; and
-- Lifelong Learning Center.
