Two Fugitives Arrested in Plater Road Homicide


Suspects Arrested in King George, Virginia

LA PLATA, Md. (April 29, 2010)—Charles County Sheriff Rex W. Coffey said officers assigned to the Charles County Sheriff's Office Warrant Fugitive Unit, along with the members of the US Marshals Office, located and arrested Darnell Laquay Proctor, 22, of Charlotte Hall, and Azsha Dayne Butler, 21, of Charlotte Hall, early this morning in an apartment in King George, Virginia. Proctor and Butler were wanted in connection with the April 14 murder of Raymond Anthony Barnes, 34, of Lexington Park.

Barnes was shot in the 12200 block of Plater Road during an argument with Proctor. Immediately after the shooting, Proctor fled the scene in a car driven by Butler.

Both suspects will be extradited to Charles County where they will be charged with first-degree murder.
