Three Vehicle Crash in Budds Creek Results in One Death

LEONARDTOWN, Md. (April 28, 2010)—A three vehicle accident Monday in the Budds Creek area resulted in one fatality. Alford Worton, 43 of Leonardtown, was transported to St. Mary's Hospital in Leonardtown where he passed at approximately 5:00 a.m. due to injuries sustained in the accident. A second driver was sent to the same hospital and the third driver was not transported.

The accident occurred at approximately 5:26 p.m. in the area of Budds Creek Road and Chaptico Park in Budds Creek.

Police say Worton was traveling eastbound on Budds Creek Road in a 2007 Ford F-150 pick-up truck when he struck the rear of a 2007 Dodge Caravan minivan operated by Brenda Bouch, 37 of Mechanicsville. Adkins' truck caught fire due to the impact.

Ms. Bouch was not transported to a hospital.

Ms. Adkins was transported to St Mary's Hospital in Leonardtown.

Police say there is currently no indication that speed, alcohol or drugs were contributing factors in the collision.

The investigation is being conducted by the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office Collision Reconstruction Team. Anyone with additional information about the accident is asked to contact Corporal Brian Connelly at 301-475-4200 extension 9010.
