MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (March 22) - The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

DRUG ARREST: On Thursday, March 18 at 12:24 am, Tyrone Darnell Baker, 21, of Mechanicsville, was arrested by Tpr. J. C. Hardesty for Possession of Marijuana. Mr. Baker was operating a gold Chrysler LHS on Point Lookout Road in the area of State House Drive in St. Mary's City when he was stopped for exceeding the posted speed limit. Upon contact with the operator, Mr. Baker, a strong odor of Marijuana was emitting from the vehicle. Mr. Baker was found to be in possession of two baggies of Marijuana. He was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

THEFT UNDER $1,000: On Friday, March 19 at 5:21 pm, TFC J. R. Stern responded to the Belk Department Store at 23415 Three Notch Road in California for the reported theft. Upon arrival, contact was made with the Loss Prevention Officer, who advised she observed a 16-year-old female put several articles of clothing in her purse and attempt to leave the store without paying. The juvenile was taken into custody and charged with Theft under $1,000.00. She was later released to her mother pending further action from Juvenile Services.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Friday, March 19 at 6:41 pm, James Milton French, 54, of Bushwood, was arrested by TFC J. A. Pilkerton on a Bench Warrant (T3-14360) for Failing to Appear in District Court in Leonardtown on March 12. The original charges were traffic related. Mr. French was served the warrant at the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

DRUG ARREST: On Saturday, March 20 at 11:30 pm, Jiszarra Candrai Awkward, 20, and a 17-year-old female, both of Lexington Park, were arrested for Possession of Cocaine. Awkward was operating a gold Honda Accord when they were stopped on Medley's Lane in Mechanicsville for exceeding the posted speed limit. As the vehicle turned onto Medley's Lane, Tpr. Gresko observed someone throw an object from the vehicle and the vehicle then came to a stop. When the vehicle came to a stop, a black male, approximately 21 years old ran from the vehicle. Contact was then made with the two occupants of the vehicle. Several police units canvassed the area where the object was thrown and a baggie of Cocaine was recovered. Both Ms. Awkward and the female juvenile passenger were arrested for Possession of Cocaine and transported to the Leonardtown Barrack for processing. The juvenile was released to her mother pending further action by Juvenile Service. Ms. Awkward was taken to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where she was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Sunday, March 21 at 12:11 pm, Francine Janice Williams, 21, of Lusby, was arrested by Tpr. S. Casarella on a Bench Warrant (T3-14365) for Failing to Appear in District Court in Leonardtown on March 12. Ms. Williams taken into custody at her residence and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where she was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Sunday, March 21 at 1:00 pm, Gene David Meier, 47, of Woodbridge, Va. turned himself in at the Leonardtown Barracks and was served two outstanding Bench Warrants (T313918) for Failing to Appear in District Court in Leonardtown on April 23, 2009. The original charge was Driving on a Suspended License. The second outstanding Bench Warrant (T3-14040) for Failing to Appear in District Court in Leonardtown on July 16, 2009. The original charges were Possession of Marijuana, Theft under $100.00 and Driving on a Suspended License. The warrants were served by Tpr. M. J. Pitcher and TFC C. M. Evans respectively. Mr. Meier was taken to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

DRUG ARREST: On Sunday, March 21 at 11:30 pm, Tpr. N. E. Gresko initiated a traffic stop on a red Ford Taurus on Sotterly Road at Forest Landing Road in Hollywood for failing to drive in a single lane. Contact was made with the driver, David Louis Briscoe Jr., 20, of Lexington Park, and the passengers, Anthony Kawika Somerville, 25, of Lexington Park, and Robert Anthony Devos Jr., 20, of Hollywood. While speaking with the occupants of the vehicle a strong odor of burnt Marijuana was emitting from the vehicle. Tpr. Gresko found 2 partially burnt Marijuana cigarettes and a large baggie of Marijuana in the vehicle. All three subjects were placed under arrest for possession of Marijuana and Possession of CDS paraphernalia and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where they were held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.
