Snow Prevents SMECO from Reading Meters

HUGHESVILLE, Md. (Feb. 10, 2010)—Because of the deep snow, poor road conditions, and lack of access to homes and businesses, Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative (SMECO) has been unable to obtain actual meter readings for some of its customer-members recently. For the first seven working days of February, SMECO has read more than 43,000 meters and estimated almost 9,500 meters. According to SMECO, the co-op will make every attempt to obtain actual meter readings in March, which will compensate for any over- or under-estimated bills this month.
