CHARLES COUNTY, Md. (January 13, 2010)—The Office of the State Fire Marshal and the Charles County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a man’s body at 8:49 a.m. Monday. The man, identified as John Edward Brooks, age 75, was found by a neighbor on the ground outside his home on Arlough Place in La Plata.
Investigators discovered indications of a fire inside the trailer and are examining it to determine if a fire related incident is responsible for the death. Brooks body was sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy. The joint investigation continues.
