LEONARDTOWN, Md. (April 23, 2009)—Today at approximately 12:52 p.m. the St. Mary's County Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call. The male caller stated there was a bomb in one of the two Leonardtown-based courthouses.

Sheriff's deputies and Maryland State Troopers responded to the Joseph D. Carter Building (District Court) on Leonard Hall Drive and the St. Mary's County Circuit Courthouse on Courthouse Drive. All occupants of both buildings were evacuated.

As of 2:30 p.m., explosive detection K-9's are on location searching the buildings.

St. Mary's County was recently the target of eight bomb threats against the California Wal-mart during February. A female employee of the store, from Lusby, Calvert County, was arrested for making those threats on Feb. 21.
