MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (April 23, 2009) - The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

THEFT UNDER $500: On Monday, April 20, 2009 at 8:02 am, TFC D. Brill responded to the 22000 block of Maddox Road in Bushwood for the reported theft from motor vehicle. Upon arrival, contact was made with the male complainant, 51, of Bushwood. He advised unknown suspect(s) broke out the passenger side window on his 2002 Ford truck and stole his Radio Shack handheld scanner. Estimated damage to the vehicle is $250.00 and the scanner is valued at $250.00. The radio was taken between 8:00 pm on April 19, 2009 and the morning of April 20th. Neighborhood checks were conducted with negative results and the investigation is ongoing.

DRUG ARREST: On Monday, April 20, 2009 at 3:33 pm, Emory Hughley, 3rd, 56, of District Heights was arrested by TFC J. Fleetwood for Possession of CDS - not Marijuana. Mr. Hughley was operating a silver Nissan Murano on Point Lookout Road in Loveville when he was stopped for exceeding the posted speed limit. A routine MVA check revealed Mr. Hughley's driving privileges are suspended and he was placed under arrest. A search incident to his arrest revealed Mr. Hughley was in possession of a prescription medication, Suboxone without a prescription or not prescribed to him. Mr. Hughley was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at 9:06 am, Joseph Lee McCarthy, 24, of Great Mills was arrested by Tpr. E. Page on an outstanding Circuit Court Warrant (T3-12293) issued on August 3, 2006. The original charge was Violation of Probation / Burglary 1st Degree. Mr. McCarthy was extradited back from Virginia so the warrant could be served on him. Mr. McCarthy was incarcerated at the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he is being held pending his court appearance.

BURGLARY 1ST DEGREE: On Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at 4:04 pm, Tpr. M. Pitcher responded to the 26000 block of Mar-A-Lee Drive in Mechanicsville for the reported Burglary. Upon arrival, contact was made with the male complainant, 37, of Mechanicsville who advised unknown suspect(s) burglarized his residence and took several items.

MALICIOUS DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: On Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at 11:00 pm, Tpr. M. Koock responded to the 22000 block of Valley Drive in Lexington Park for the reported Malicious Destruction of Property to a Motor Vehicle. Upon arrival, contact was made with the male complainant, 40, of Lexington Park, who advised unknown suspect(s) keyed his 1994 white Jeep Cherokee between 6:30 am and 11:00 pm on April 21, 2009. The investigation continues.

DUI, DRUG ARREST: On Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at 1:47 am, Sara Elizabeth Fogel, 30, of Great Mills was arrested by Tpr. J. Pilkerton for DUI and Possession of CDS - not Marijuana. Ms. Fogel was operating a white Toyota Avalon on north bound Three Notch Road in California when she was stopped south of Patuxent Beach Road, for exceeding the posted speed limit. Upon contact with Ms. Fogel, a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emitting from her breath. She was subsequently arrested for DUI. A search incident to the arrest revealed she was in possession of Phlentermine and Adderall without a prescription or not prescribed to her. Ms. Fogel was taken into custody and transported to the Leonardtown Barrack for processing for DUI. She was later transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where she was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

DRUG ARREST: On Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at 10:58 am, a 17 year female juvenile, of Ridge was arrested by TFC M. Adams for Possession of Marijuana and Possession of CDS Paraphernalia. The juvenile was operating a silver Ford Explorer on Pegg Road in Lexington Park when it was stopped on Springwood Court for exceeding the posted speed limit. Contact with the driver was made and a strong odor of burnt Marijuana was detected. The juvenile was found to be in possession of a multi-colored glass CDS smoking device and a baggie of Marijuana. She was transported to the Leonardtown Barrack where she was processed and released to her father pending further action by Juvenile Services.
