Summers Moves to Evergreen, Owens Named Interim Principal at Dynard ES


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (April 22, 2009) - Dr. Michael J. Martirano, superintendent of schools for St. Mary's County, announced the assignment of Ms. Andrea Owens to the position of interim principal at Dynard Elementary School, located in Chaptico. The current principal, Kim Summers, is moving on to assume her new position as principal of Evergreen Elementary School, which opens to students in August 2009.

Ms. Owens' position is effective May 1 through June 30, 2009.

Evergreen Elementary, the first new elementary school in St. Mary's County since 1980, is located in the Wildewood development and has a capacity for up to 646 students.

Ms. Summers served on the committee that designed the new elementary school.
