LA PLATA, Md. (April 9, 2009) - The La Plata Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.
POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA: On April 5 at approximately 1624 hours TFC J. Wilson was at the south entrance of Renner Road when he observed a Doge Charger pass with dark tinted windows. TFC Wilson stopped the vehicle; made contact with the driver and his passenger, and smelled a strong odor of marijuana. The driver, Antonio Lavar Patterson, 27, of Upper Marlboro, and Derron Gary Handon, 25,
of Upper Marlboro, were charged with possession of marijuana.
POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA: On April 8 at approximately 2333 hours, Trooper A. Smith was in the area of Route 301 and route 6 when he observed a Nissan Altima sitting at a red light with not lights on. Trooper Smith stopped the vehicle and made contact with Dwayne L. Bennett, 24, of Ft. Washington. PFC R. Bagley arrived on the scene and assisted Trooper Smith with the stop. The assistance of K-9 was requested and the scan of the vehicle by PFC. W. Christian and his partner resulted in a positive indication for the presence of CDS. A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of two suitcases which had a strong odor of marijuana about them and marijuana residue inside. A large sum of currency (over $20,000) was also located in the vehicle. The operator of the vehicle denied any knowledge of the suitcases or the money. The operator of the vehicle was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and false statement to a peace officer.
POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA: On April 9 at approximately 0200 hours, Trooper W. Posey was traveling southbound St. Charles Parkway, north of Andrews Drive, when he observed a Ford Crown Victoria with suspended tags for emissions and insurance. The passenger, Mark Christopher Taylor, 21, of Waldorf, was arrested for possession of marijuana and paraphernalia.
