St. Mary's County Sheriff's Reports


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Feb. 17, 2009) - The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

FIRST DEGREE ASSAULT, MALICIOUS BURNING: On February 16, 2009 deputies responded to a report of a domestic assault on Hermanville Road in Lexington Park. Investigation revealed Brandon Lee Tyree, Sr., 28, of Capitol Heights, engaged in a verbal altercation with the victim. After the altercation, the victim went to bed with her four year old daughter. The victim and her daughter were awakened when Mr. Tyree threw a burning jacket on top of them. The assault was witnessed by an independent third party. Brandon Lee Tyree, Sr. was arrested and charged with two counts of first degree assault, two counts of second degree assault, and malicious burning.

WAL-MART BOMB THREAT: On the morning of Monday, February 16, 2009, the Wal-Mart store, located at 45485 Miramar Way in California received a bomb threat by telephone. This was the third bomb threat received by the Wal-Mart store within a week. Patrol units from the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office and the Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack responded and the store was evacuated. Calvert County and St. Mary's County Sheriff's bomb dogs searched the store and after finding no suspicious items, the store was reopened. The incident is currently being investigated by St. Mary's County BCI detectives.
