Man Arrested in Texas for Arson of Vehicle in Waldorf


WALDORF, Md. (Jan. 15, 2008) – Deputy State Fire Marshals have arrested a man in connection with setting a vehicle on fire in Waldorf this past November. Gregory Ryan Dyess, 22, was arrested by police in Corsicana, Texas for the Maryland arrest warrant. He was extradited back to Maryland this weekend by State Fire Marshals and the Maryland State Police without incident.

The fire at 2670 Crain Highway, Waldorf occurred on November 24, 2008 at 5:17 a.m. A 1987 Plymouth Reliant passenger car belonging to Jerry Taylor was completely destroyed and resulted in damages over $3,500.

Dyess has been charged with second degree arson with additional charges pending. He is currently being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending a bond review hearing. The Charles County Sheriff’s Department and Crime Laboratory assisted in the investigation.
