Two SMCM Professors Have Books Out this Fall

ST. MARY’S CITY, Md. (November 14, 2009) — Two St. Mary’s College of Maryland professors have books being published this fall.

Sterling Lambert, assistant professor of music, studied Franz Schubert’s fascination with putting Johann Wolfgang von Goethe’s poems to music in Re-Reading Poetry: Schubert’s Multiple Settings of Goethe (Boydell & Brewer). His book will be out Nov. 19.

Lambert taught at Tufts and Harvard universities before coming to St. Mary’s in January 2006. Also a professional singer, Lambert has extensive experience in the field of church music, and has sung with some of the most important choirs in the United Kingdom and the United States, including those of St. John’s College Cambridge, San Francisco’s Grace Cathedral, and the Church of the Advent in Boston.

Love Cures: Healing and Love Magic in Old French Romance (psupress) is by Laine E. Doggett, associate professor of French, which traces the healing of love back to the romance stories of the Middle Ages.

Doggett taught at Florida Atlantic University and North Carolina State University before coming to St. Mary’s in 2003. She is currently on sabbatical.
