ST. MARYS CITY, Md. (October 23, 2009) The Trustees of St. Mary's College of Maryland announced Wednesday that they are continuing the search for the college's next president. The initial search brought four candidates to the college campus in recent weeks.
The Board released the following statement:
"This decision was reached after serious consideration. As a college that prides itself in the cohesive nature of the campus community, the inability to reach a strong consensus was a significant factor as was the fact that some candidates withdrew from consideration. The Trustees were impressed by the caliber of the final candidates who visited campus.
"The Board will take all necessary steps to move forward in this process. Acting president and provost, Larry Vote, will continue to serve until a new president is appointed and takes office."
