Disc Golf Course Officially Opens

LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Oct. 23, 2009)—Calling all disc golf enthusiasts! A golf course has opened in Lexington Park and a group of athletes, Recreation and Parks Board members and county officials gathered on October 21 to celebrate.

Located on the former "Lexington Manor" south parcel, the course can be accessed via the Lancaster Park entrance off Willows Road. Disc golf is similar to regular golf except it is played with discs similar to Frisbees®.

Disc golf uses baskets mounted on poles instead of traditional golf holes. The game can be played on a year-round basis.

Maps of the course can be downloaded from the county's website at www.stmarysmd.com. Click on Recreation and Parks under Citizen Services, then click on Lancaster Park under the Parks and Facilities tab.
