Calvert County Sheriff's Reports


PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (Oct. 19, 2009) - The Calvert County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

DOP: Unknown suspect(s) caused over $19,000 in damage between October 10 and 12. Dep. Andre Mitchell responded to Howlin Concrete on Chesapeake Beach Road in Owings. An employee advised that two Pepsi machines were significantly damaged and orange paint was splattered in several locations. An employee of Gradient Construction advised that a trailer at the rear of the business had been broken into. A John Deere Track loader had several broken windows and was covered in orange paint. THEFT: On October 12 at 11:10 a.m. a victim advised DFC Paul Wood that after shopping at the Dunkirk Safeway she went to her vehicle put her purse in the front of her truck then went to the rear of her vehicle to load the groceries. She turned and saw an SUV drive away from the area and after checking her car, she noticed her purse was gone. Anyone with information is asked to contact DFC Wood at 410-535-2800.

WEAPON VIOLATION: After conducting a traffic stop on a vehicle on October 12 at 8:55 p.m. on Barreda Blvd. near Lake Drive in Lusby, DFC Mark Fitzgerald found the driver to be in possession of a handgun and rifle. He arrested James Aaron Smith, 31 of Lusby, and charged him with transporting a handgun in a vehicle on public roads.

BURGLARY: Sometime between October 9 and 13, unknown suspect(s) broke into a home on Harvard Street in St. Leonard. Approximately $100 in damage was done and a $50 Ipod and some currency were stolen from within. Anyone with information is asked to contact Lt. Steve Jones at 410-535-2800 ext. 2462.

BURGLARY: On October 17, Dep. James Norton responded to Sheridan Point Road in Prince Frederick for a burglary report. The victim advised that someone had entered her house boat and thrown the furniture around. Nothing appeared to have been stolen and no permanent damage was done. Dep. Norton is investigating.

THEFT: A white wicker chair and love seat were stolen from the yard of a home on Adelina Road in Prince Frederick between October 10 and 17. Anyone with information is asked to contact Dep. James Norton at 410-535-2800.

CDS VIOLATION: Dep. Ian Umphrey arrested Darrell Drew Lartey, 23 of Prince Frederick and charged him with possession of marijuana after a traffic stop on October 17 at 3:40 p.m. Dep. Umphrey stopped Lartey's vehicle in the Valvoline parking lot in Prince Frederick.
