St. Mary's County Sheriff's Reports


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (July 16, 2009) - The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office recently released the following incident and arrest reports.

ASSAULT: On July 13, deputies responded to a residence on Whiskey Creek Road in Hollywood for a report of an assault. Investigation revealed Christopher George Diaz, 20 of Burtonsville, was in a verbal dispute with Amanda Ruth Paunil, 20 of Silver Spring, which escalated into physical assaults between Diaz and Paunil—both parties struck one another. Diaz punched the victim in the eye and Paunil scratch and struck Diaz in the lip. Both parties had been consuming alcoholic beverages and the primary of the assault could not be determined. Diaz was arrested and charged with second-degree assault. Paunil was arrested for second-degree assault. Search incident to Paunil's arrest revealed a glass controlled dangerous smoking device containing suspected marijuana residue. Paunil was also charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, marijuana and possession on controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia.

ASSAULT: On July 13, deputies responded to a report of an assault. Investigation revealed Christopher George Diaz, 20 of Burtonsville, was in a verbal dispute, which escalated into a physical assault when he punched the victim in the eye. Diaz was arrested and charged with second-degree assault.

VIOLATION OF PROTECTIVE ORDER: On July 13, deputies received information David Earl Cantrell, 45 of California, was waiting in the parking lot of the St. Mary's County Circuit Court to contact a person whom he is not permitted to contact do to a court ordered protective order. The protective order specifically ordered Cantrell to stay away from the respondent's place of employment. The respondent's office is located in the courthouse. Cantrell was located in the parking lot of the courthouse and was arrested for violating the conditions of the protective order.

ASSAULT: On July 15, deputies responded to McKay's Food Land in Lexington Park for a report of a disorderly subject refusing to leave the business. As deputies arrived on the scene, they observed Jason Allen Foxwell, 23, of no fixed address, in an active altercation with the store manager. Deputies stopped the altercation. Foxwell appeared to be intoxicated and continued his disorderly behavior, yelling and cursing, refusing deputies request to calm down. Foxwell's actions drew the attention of several customers. The manager stated Foxwell was asked several times to leave the property and refused. The manager further advised Foxwell struck him in the face. Foxwell was arrested and charged with second-degree assault, trespassing, and disorderly conduct.

CONTROLLED DANGEROUS SUBSTANCE VIOLATION: On July 16, Cpl. P Handy was investigating a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of McDonald in Lexington Park. Investigation revealed the occupants had placed an item between the front seats near the center console. A consent search of the vehicle revealed a clear plastic baggie containing suspected cocaine. Michael Leonard Semiklose, 23 of Mechanicville, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
