Calvert County Sheriff's Reports


PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (July 6, 2009) - The Calvert County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

CDS VIOLATION: On June 26 at 3:16 p.m. DFC Aaron Locke conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on southbound Md. Rt. 4 at Coster Road in Lusby. Both occupants of the vehicle were found to be in possession of suspected marijuana. Warren E. Tydings III, 18 of Laytonsville was charged with possession of marijuana and possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia, a round metal "grinder", a yellow White Owl cigar tube and two small zip-loc baggies.

THEFT: Unknown suspect(s) boarded a boat that was docked at the Breezy Point Marina in Chesapeake Beach between June 20th and 30th and stole a Garmin fish finder, a Standard horizon chart and a hand-held GPS, together valued at over $4700. Dep. Jeffrey Hardesty is investigating.

THEFT FROM VEHICLES: Three victims on Birch Drive in Huntingtown had items stolen from their unlocked vehicles overnight between June 30 and July 1. A Razor cell phone, Dell Latitude laptop computer, Extech Digital sound meter, Garmin GPS unit, TomTom GPS unit, Oakley sunglasses and several CD's with a total value of over $2400 were stolen. Dep. Jeffrey Hardesty is investigating the thefts.

CDS VIOLATION: On June 30 at 5:40 p.m. Dep. James Norton observed a vehicle parked at the back of Patuxent Business Park on Anchorage Lane and H.G. Trueman Road in Lusby. Two occupants of the vehicle were found to be in possession of suspected marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Arrested were Charles D. Stump, Jr., 26 of Mechanicsville and Emily M. Clifton, 23 of Mechanicsville were each charged with possession of marijuana and possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia, a smoking device.

THEFT FROM VEHICLE: A Kenwood CD player worth $100 was stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked in front of a home on Dunn Road in Huntingtown between June 30 and July 3. Dep. Frank Winston is investigating the theft.

CDS VIOLATION: DFC Christopher Childress investigated a vehicle parked in a cul-de-sac at the end of Pushaw Station Road in Sunderland on July 2 at 12:44 a.m. The vehicle had 5 occupants inside. DFC Childress subsequently charged a 17-year-old Brandywine female with possession of drug paraphernalia after he observed a metal smoking device inside the vehicle. She was charged on a youth report and released to a parent.

THEFT: A woman shopping in the Prince Frederick Wal-Mart had her purse stolen out of her cart while she waited in line on July 3 at around noon. An unidentified white male was observed running out of the store with the purse. The suspect was seen by witnesses and also observed on security video. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Lt. Steve Jones of the CIT at 410-535-2800 ext. 2462.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT: After being asked numerous times to be quiet due to the late hour and residential neighborhood, a 21-year-old woman was arrested after she continued to be loud and belligerent. CPL James Wahlgren had responded to the area of Dayton Ave and 2nd Street in North Beach on July 4 at 1:41 a.m. for a reported assault. Cpl. Wahlgren observed Kara Marie Dawson of North Beach becoming increasingly loud, yelling and cursing. He arrested her and charged her with disorderly conduct.

DOP: Approximately $600 in damage was done to a vehicle parked on Bayside Road in Chesapeake Beach between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. on July 4. A rear tire was slashed and the quarter panel of the vehicle was scratched. Anyone with information is asked to contact DFC Paul Wood at 410-535-2800.
