St. Mary's County Sheriff's Reports


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Dec. 19, 2008) - The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

SCHOOL BUS ACCIDENT: On December 18, 2008 at approximately 7:02 a.m., a St. Mary’s County Public school bus operated by James Timothy Blount, 63, of Lexington Park, was involved in a motor vehicle collision. The accident occurred on Park Hall Road west of Three Notch Road in Park Hall. Preliminary investigation reveals the operator lost control of the vehicle and drove onto the right shoulder striking a street sign and telephone pole. Thirty-Four students, ages 11 through 14, were aboard the bus at the time of the accident. Nine students were transported to St. Mary’s Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The bus driver was also transported to St. Mary’s Hospital. Investigation is continuing and charges may be pending.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On December 17, 2008 Senior Deputy First Class Kevin Somerville was dispatched to the area of Jarrell Drive at Golden Beach Road in Mechanicsville for a suspicious vehicle (truck parked partially in the roadway displaying cardboard tags). Sdfc. Somerville contacted the driver of the truck, Brian Patrick Jett, 28, of no fixed address. Sdfc. Somerville could detect an odor of burnt marijuana emitting from the vehicle. A probable cause search was conducted which revealed a glass/marble smoking pipe containing suspected marijuana. Mr. Jett was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

RETAIL THEFT: On December 18, 2008 Deputy W. Watters responded to K-Mart in California for a report of a theft. Investigation revealed Christina Marie Santoiemma, 38, of Lexington Park, concealed various personal hygiene products in her purse and then walked past all points of payment and attempted to exit the store without paying for the products. Ms. Santoiemma was arrested and charged with theft under $500.

ILLEGAL DRUGS, WEAPON: Vice Narcotics detectives executed search and seizure warrants on the home and vehicle of Kodi Tevon Robinson, 28, of Lexington Park. Between the two locations, nearly one pound of marijuana was recovered as well as cocaine and a handgun. Robinson is a convicted felon and is prohibited from possessing a firearm. He was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana with the Intent to Distribute, Felon in Possess of a Handgun and Possession of Cocaine. Additional charges are pending a State’s Attorney’s Office review.

ILLEGAL DRUGS INDICTMENT: Vice Narcotics detectives indicted Lawrence Clifton Bankins, 25, of Lexington Park, for felony drug and weapons violations related to a search warrant that was executed on his residence in September of 2008.

ILLEGAL STEROIDS INDICTMENT: Gary Wayne Harper Jr., 35, of Mechanicsville, was arrested after Vice Narcotics detectives indicted him for possession of various steroids with the intent to distribute. The initial warrant was a No Bond warrant.
