PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (Dec. 12, 2008)—The Calvert County Board of Education decided at its Dec. 11 meeting that Calvert County Public Schools will be closed for students on January 20, 2009, for the Presidential Inauguration. The day will become a professional development day for all employees.
In exchange, students will be required to attend school on Friday, February 13, 2009. This was previously a non-student day.
The Charles and St. Mary's County public school systems announced similar moves in recent weeks.
