LA PLATA, Md. (Nov. 13, 2008) - The Charles County Sheriff's Department today released the following incident and arrest reports.

ATV THEFT: On Nov. 11 about 11 p.m., suspect(s) stole a green 2006 Yamaha Bruin ATV from a yard in the 4700 block of Bicknell Road in Marbury. Anyone with information about the theft is asked to contact Officer J. Freeman at 301-743-2222 or Charles County Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS.

BURGLARY: On Nov. 11 at 9:40 p.m. Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to Classic Image Salon and Day Spa located at 146 Village Street in Waldorf for the report of an intrusion alarm. Upon arrival, officers discovered the salon’s front glass door had been shattered. A representative of the salon responded to the scene and determined nothing had been stolen. ARMED ROBBERY: On Nov. 11 at 8:46 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to the report of an armed robbery that occurred at the Glasva Thunderbird Motel located at 11050 Crain Highway in Newburg. The investigation revealed a delivery person for John Dough’s Pizza was attempting to deliver a pizza to the motel but when he exited his car, two suspects confronted him with a gun and a knife. The suspects stole the victim’s money and his cell phone and fled the scene on foot. The victim returned to John Dough’s and reported the crime to police. The suspects are described as white males wearing black jackets and caps, blue bandanas and “fuzzy” mittens. One of the suspects is about 6 feet 1 inches tall and weighs about 180 pounds. The other suspect is about 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs about 140 pounds. Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to contact Officer S. BURGLARY: On Nov. 10 at 12:04 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to Trumpeter Court in Waldorf for the report of a burglary in progress. The investigation revealed a man entered the victim’s home through an open garage door. After the supsect exited the house, the victim confronted him. The suspect fled toward Route 228. Officer C. Roberts and his K9 partner responded to the scene and conducted a track but the suspect was not located. The suspect is described as a black or Hispanic male wearing a black sweat-suit and cap. THEFT: Sometime between Oct. 7 and Oct. 28, two suspects forced entry into a residence on an historic site in the 7700 block of Ann Harbor Drive in Port Tobacco. The suspects broke a kitchen window and stole antique silver items, most of which they later sold to the Apple Basket antique shop in Mechanicsville, Md. One of the suspects used his driver’s license during the transaction; Sheriff’s officers subsequently identified him and the other suspect. Russell Andrew Melvin, 20, of La Plata and Stephen James Adams, 23, of Port Tobacco were charged with first- and third-degree burglary, theft of property valued at more than $500 and malicious destruction of property. They were released pending court appearances. All of the stolen property was recovered from the antiques store and at Adams’s residence. Officer J. Richards investigated.
