Calvert County Sheriff's Reports


PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (Sept. 3, 2008) - The Calvert County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: Dep. April Litteral investigated a car, engine running, stopped at the stop sign at the intersection of Leitches Wharf Road and Mallard Point Road in Prince Frederick with the driver slumped over the wheel on August 24 at 12:42 a.m. The driver, later identified as Michael P. Hering, 24 of Prince Frederick, awoke and was subsequently charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, morphine.

THEFT FROM AUTO: Unknown suspects smashed the rear window of a vehicle parked at the Md. Rt. 2/4 Park and ride in Sunderland on August 25 between 5:40 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. and stole a Navigon 7100 GPS system valued at $600. Dep. Nicholas DeFelice is investigating.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: Dexter M. Holland, 33 of Port Republic was arrested by Dep. Nicholas DeFelice on August 25 and charged with possession of crack cocaine and possession with the intent to use drug paraphernalia, razor blades used to cut crack cocaine. Dep. DeFelice had stopped Holland's vehicle while conducting speed enforcement on Yardley Drive in Prince Frederick at 6:44 that evening.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On August 26 at 5:46 p.m. while conducting a traffic stop, Dep. Daniel Deakins found Joseph M. Simms, Jr., 19 of Chesapeake Beach, to be in possession of suspected heroin. He was arrested and charged.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: Cpl. James Wahlgren charged Andrew P. Rickers, 18 of Bowie, with possession of drug paraphernalia, a multi-colored glass smoking device used to inhale marijuana, on August 30 at 5:14 p.m. after conducting a traffic stop on Md. Rt. 260 near Rymers Way in Chesapeake Beach.

DOP: Unknown suspects threw a rock through a picture window of a home on Golden West Way in Lusby on August 31 at 10:04 p.m. causing $400 in damage. Dep. Robert Traas is investigating.

ALCOHOL VIOLATION: On August 31 at 12:49 in the morning, units of the Calvert County Sheriff's Office responded to a home on Holbrook Lane in Huntingtown for the report of a large fight in progress. The result of an investigation determined that a fight did not occur but there were a large number of people at the residence, many who were drinking alcohol and under the age of twenty-one. All persons under the age of twenty-one were administered a blood alcohol content test. Cpl. Richard Wilson, Dep. Ian Umphrey and Dep. Justin Livingston issued civil citations for possession of alcohol under the age of 21 to Elise Venables, 18 of Huntingtown, Victoria Gray, 19 of Huntingtown, and Danielle Harper-Gosnell, 19 of Huntingtown. Morgan Lamack, 18 of Chesapeake Beach and Brandon Creech, 20 of Huntingtown, were each cited for consuming an alcoholic beverage while under age. Additionally, the homeowners and hosts of the gathering, Brandon Creech and Ryan Creech, 22 of Huntingtown, were each cited 5 times for furnishing alcohol to persons under the age of twenty-one for which the penalty is payment of a fine not exceeding $1000.

THEFT FROM AUTO: A Magellan GPS and an IPOD were stolen from inside unlocked vehicles that were parked outside a home on Sparrow Court in Chesapeake Beach on September 1 during the early morning hours. The amount of the theft is $500. Anyone with information is asked to contact DFC Jeff Elliott at 410-535-2800.
