Local Citizens Plan Public Salute Along Procession Route


Sgt. Ryan Patrick Baumann, age 24, of Great Mills, died Aug. 1 in Afghanistan. The funeral is set for Aug. 11.
GREAT MILLS, Md. (Aug. 7, 2008)—Sgt. Ryan Patrick Baumann, age 24, of Great Mills, died Aug. 1 from injuries sustained when his vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device in Afghanistan. Sgt. Baumann was assigned to the 101st Airborne in Ft Campbell, Kentucky.

Baumann's fiancée lives near St Mary's City and his mother and step-father live in Great Mills.

Baumann's funeral will be held at Brinsfield Funeral Home in Leonardtown at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 11. He will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery.

Local citizens are trying to organize a public show of support for Baumann by lining the funeral's procession route starting in Leonardtown. The procession will depart Brinsfield Funeral Home between 10:45-11:00 a.m. and proceed from Hollywood Rd. turning right onto Rte 5 north. Event organizers are inviting all interested citizens to participate.
