Coast Guard Searches For Two Men In Canoe Overdue


BALTIMORE (July 14, 2008) - The Coast Guard is searching for two men today overdue in the Potomac River.

Watch standers from Coast Guard Sector Baltimore were notified at 11:30 p.m. Sunday by Charles County dispatch that two men in a 12-foot canoe had not returned from their trip.

Rescue crews from Coast Guard Station St. Inigoes, Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City N.J., Maryland Natural Resource Police and other local agencies from Maryland and Virginia searched through out the night.

A helicopter crew from Air Station Atlantic City conducted a first light search and crews from Station St. Inigoes and MNRP continue to search.
