Calvert County Sheriff's Reports

PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (June 12, 2008) - The Calvert County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

DOP: Unknown suspect(s) caused $1000 in damage to a vehicle parked outside a home on Golden West Way in Lusby on June 5 at 9:50 p.m. The homeowner heard something hit his front door and found a black mailbox, that was not his, lying on his front porch. It appears that the mailbox had been thrown with extreme force; it also struck a Dodge Neon, making a dent and scratching the rear window before it landed on the porch. Dep. Andrew Clas is investigating.

DOP: Four victims on Icehouse Court in Dunkirk suffered damage to their mailboxes that occurred on June 6 around 1:00 in the morning. The total amount of damage is estimated at $290. Dep. Thomas Rickard will investigate.

THEFT: Unknown suspect(s) gained entry to the snack bar area of the Cove Point Park Aquatic Facility and stole $385 in cash and consumable items. It happened sometime overnight between June 6 and 7. Anyone with information is asked to contact Dep. J. Parsons at 410-535-2800.

ASSAULT: A taxi driver for Chesapeake Cab Inc. was assaulted by one of his customers on June 7 at 12:45 a.m. outside of Catamaran's in Solomons. The taxi driver advised Dep. Jason Lord that he had picked up the customer, later identified as Richard F. Lakin, 38 of Lexington Park, in St. Mary's County and transported him to Catamaran's, where Lakin exited the cab. A new customer got into the cab but Lakin then also tried to get into the cab and demanded that the driver take him home. When the driver explained that he now had a new customer and couldn't drive Lakin home, Lakin became disorderly and threatened the driver with a knife, stating that he would slash the tires if the driver didn't take him home. The driver rolled up the window and called police and Lakin left the scene, walking south along the boardwalk. Dep. Lord responded and contacted Lakin on the boardwalk. He was arrested and charged with second degree assault and disorderly conduct.

DOP: Unknown suspect(s) shot a BB through the window of a home on Bafford Road in Lusby between 9:30 p.m. on June 8 and 2:40 p.m. on June 9. The damage is estimated at $150. Anyone with information is asked to contact DFC Shawn Morder at 410-535-2800.
