MSP Reports for Charles County


LA PLATA, Md. (May 22, 2008) - The La Plata Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

On May 21 at approximately 2:00 p.m., Trooper J. Wilson responded to Best Buy for a reported theft. Upon contact with the lost prevention specialist, who observed Julian Sebastiano Caldwell, age 18 of Waldorf, removing a DVD from its case and placing the disk in his sweatshirt sleeve. When Caldwell attempted to exit the store without paying, he was stopped and placed under arrest. Caldwell was charged with theft less than $100.

On May 19 at approximately 2:28 a.m., Corporal T. Quade was conducting stationary radar on U.S. Route 301, south of Smallwood Drive, when he stopped John Marshall Peterson, age 35 of White Plains, for a traffic violation, detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage and subsequently arrested Peterson for DUI. A personal search incident to arrest revealed a smoking device contain suspected marijuana. Peterson was also charged with possess with intent to use drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled dangerous substance-marijuana.
