Cops, Feds Raid ADF Bingo, Confiscate 'Electronic Gaming Devices'

LEONARDTOWN, Md. (May 01, 2008)—Today police executed a search and seizure warrant at ADF Bingo Hall in Mechanicsville and seized several "Electronic Gaming Devices" and "related evidence." The gaming devices were declared by the State to be illegal slot machines on March 10 in a letter from Assistant Attorney General Kathryn M. Rowe to Senate President Mike Miller.

The declaration followed a brief period in St. Mary's County that saw the machines popularized at several social establishments. Most similar machines throughout the county have either been removed or disabled prior to today's raid.

Detectives from the St. Mary's County Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI) Vice Narcotics Division, along with agents from the FBI Annapolis office, executed the raid.

Many local citizens whisper privately that the move by the State is little more than an exercise to maintain their dominance in gambling profits.

Police said they would not release additional information at this time.
