LEXINGTON PARK, Md. (April 11, 2008)—One man is dead and a woman is in critical condition with two gunshot wounds after allegedly being shot by the woman's ex-husband late Thursday night. The ex-husband, Koummane Virasith, 39, of Lexington Park, was arrested on the scene by police.

Police were called to the area of Liberty Street in Lexington Park at approximately 11:45 p.m. Upon their arrival they found the two victims suffering from gunshot wounds outside an apartment building.

The victims were identified as Thomas John Saunders, 38, and Melissa Lea Virasith, 40, both of Lexington Park.

Saunders was flown to P.G. Shock Trauma where he was pronounced dead.

Melissa Virasith was flown to P.G. Shock Trauma and is listed in critical condition suffering from two gunshot wounds.

Koummane Virasith was charged with 1st degree murder and attempted 1st degree murder. He was incarcerated in the St. Mary's County Detention Center.
