MSP Reports for Calvert County


PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (Feb. 7, 2008) - The Prince Frederick Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

BURGLARY/THEFT: On 2/1/2008 @ 8:45 am, Trooper A. Merkelson responded to Avery Auto Repair in Huntingtown for a reported burglary and theft. Upon arrival, Trooper Merkelson observed the front door of the business had been pushed in and an automotive radiator had been removed from the business. The investigation is continuing.

BURGLARY/THEFT: On 2/1/2008 @ 5:58 pm, TFC E. Brooks responded to a private residence in Port Republic for a reported burglary and theft. Upon arrival, TFC Brooks observed that unknown suspect(s) had forced entry into the residence from a side door and removed several items. The investigation is continuing.

MALICIOUS DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: On 2/1/2008 @ 9:07 pm, Trooper J. Towers responded to a private residence in the Huntingtown area. Upon arrival, Trooper towers observed that several suspects had damaged the property by driving through their field causing deep ruts and holes. Three suspects were charged with Malicious Destruction of Property; 2 juveniles from Prince Frederick and Chesapeake Beach and one adult from Huntingtown.

THEFT: On 2/2/2008 @ 10:47 am, Corporal J. Bowman responded to a residence in the Sunderland area. Upon arrival, Corporal Bowman observed that unknown suspect(s) removed a welder from the victim’s shed, and also removed a generator from the rear of the victim’s truck. There are no suspects at this time, but the investigation is continuing.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On 2/3/2008 @ 12:52 pm, in the area of Skip jack Road, Prince Frederick, TFC C. Dawson stopped a Honda Prelude for crossing the center line. Upon stopping the vehicle, TFC Dawson detected the odor of burnt marijuana emitting from the vehicle. The driver, Krystal Virginia Goad, age 22 of Prince Frederick, was arrested on the scene and charged with Possession of CDS. Ms. Goad was transported to the Maryland State Police, Prince Frederick Barrack, where she was processed and taken to the Calvert County Detention Center.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On 2/4/2008 @ 9:00 pm, during routine patrol in the area of Longhorn Circle, Lusby, two subjects were observed by Trooper J. Chirichella sitting in a pickup truck in a driveway on Longhorn Circle. Upon approaching the vehicle, Trooper Chirichella detected the odor of burnt marijuana emitting from the vehicle. Trooper Chirichella confronted the passenger and advised him that he smelled burnt marijuana. At that time, the passenger, Joshua Lee Coleman, admitted that he was in possession of CDS, and CDS paraphernalia. The Coleman subject was arrested and transported to the MSP Prince Frederick Barrack for routine processing. Coleman was then taken to the Calvert County Detention Center pending a hearing with the District Court Commissioner. The owner/operator of the pickup truck was not charged.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT: On 2/6/2008 @ 2:30 pm, TFC C. Dawson responded to a residence on Llewelyn Lane for the report of an unknown male laying in the front yard of the residence. Upon arrival, TFC Dawson observed a white male sitting in the front yard. The white male was later identified as Mark Hendrik Nurmi, age 48, of Huntingtown. Mr. Nurmi was asked to leave the residence, at which time he became disorderly, and was yelling using profanity. At this time, Nurmi was placed under arrest by TFC Dawson and charged with disorderly conduct. Nurmi was processed and taken to the Calvert County Detention Center pending a hearing with the District Court Commissioner.
