MSP Reports for Calvert County


PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (Jan. 31, 2008) - The Prince Frederick Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On 1/15/08, @ 2:03 am, TFC C. Dawson stopped a Chevrolet Cavalier for an expired registration in the area of Old Bayside Road, Chesapeake Beach. Upon contact with the driver, Andria Catherine Moore, 33, of Chesapeake Beach, alcohol was noted on her breath. After failing several field sobriety tests Ms. Moore was placed under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol. Search incident to arrest revealed that Ms. Moore had CDS and CDS paraphernalia in her possession. Ms. Moore was charged with possession of CDS and possession of CDS paraphernalia on a criminal citation. She was released to a friend.

MALICIOUS DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: On 1/17/2008, @ 8:14 am, TFC J. Ewig responded to the Apex Cinema located in Prince Frederick for a malicious destruction. TFC Ewig noticed that the left and right entrance doors to the theater had been damaged. Further investigation revealed that the doors were possibly damaged from a BB gun. No suspect at this time. Investigation is continuing.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On 1/23/2008, @ 12:25 am, Trooper J. Chirichella stopped a 2000 Ford pickup truck for possible DUI violations in the area of MD Route 260. After failing several field sobriety tests, the driver, Juan A. Argueta-Portillo, 27, of Silver Spring, was placed under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol. Search incident to arrest revealed that the driver, Argueta-Portillo, had a small baggie containing suspected cocaine. The subject was taken to the Calvert County Detention Center, after being charged with DUI and Possession of CDS: Cocaine.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On 1/24/2008, @ 5:55 pm, Trooper J. Towers, responded to the K-Mart in Prince Frederick for the report of a theft. Upon arrival, Trooper Towers contact the K-Mart Loss Prevention Supervisor, who had observed a patron remove and hide a bottle of “Blue Seduction” perfume in her pocket. The patron, identified as Sharon Pollyanna John, 54, of Prince Frederick, was arrested for theft. Search incident to arrest revealed a plastic straw which contained suspected cocaine residue. John was charged on a Uniform Criminal Citation for both violations.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On 1/25/2008, @ 10:37 pm, Trooper J. Towers was working radar on HG Trueman Road in Lusby, MD. Trooper Towers stopped William Andrew Krell, who was operating his motor vehicle without a seatbelt. After stopped the subject, Trooper Towers noticed a odor of burnt marijuana emitting from Krell’s vehicle. When questioned by Trooper Towers regarding the odor of marijuana, Krell admitted to smoking. Krell was charged with Possession of CDS Paraphernalia, and released from the scene on a Uniform Criminal Citation.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On 1/27/2008 @ 3:06 am, Trooper J. Chirichella stopped a Cadillac for speeding violations in the area of MD Route 231 at Hallowing Lane in Prince Frederick. Upon approaching the vehicle, the driver, Carlos Mackall, 27, of Huntingtown, was contacted. Trooper Chirichella detected the odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. At this time, Mackall was asked to exit the vehicle which he complied with. While attempting to detain Mackall, he ran into the woods. Trooper Chirichella requested backup. Deputy Canning from the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office arrived to assist with locating Mackall. After Deputy Canning’s arrival, Mackall returned to his vehicle. Mackall resisted arrest several times on the scene, but was eventually handcuffed and transported to the Maryland State Police Barrack in Prince Frederick, where he was charged with Assault, Resisting Arrest, Possession of CDS and Possession of CDS Paraphernalia, as well as several traffic citations. Mackall was transported to the Calvert County Detention Center pending a hearing with the District Court Commissioner.

THEFT/ILLEGAL DRUGS: On 1/29/2008 @ 3:44 pm, Calvert Control Center broadcast a lookout for a vehicle in reference to a theft from the Fastop in Lusby. Trooper J. Stern was in the area and located the vehicle traveling on Tomahawk Trail & Gunsmoke Trail in Lusby. Trooper Stern stopped the vehicle which was occupied by four black males which matched the description of the suspects that had stolen items from Fastop. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Andre Darnell Butler, 19, of Lusby, and three passengers, Roscoe Alan Chapelle, 19, of Lusby; Marcus Lorenzo Bailey, 21, of Lusby; and Gregorick Brent Collington, 21, of Great Mills. Search incident to arrest revealed CDS under the rear passenger seat. All subjects were arrested and transported to MSP Prince Frederick. They were all charged with theft and possession of crack cocaine. All four subjects were transported to the Calvert County Detention Center.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On 1/30/2008 @ 5:45 pm, Trooper J. Towers was in the area of Woodburn Street in Solomons. Trooper Towers observed a black male, later identified as Joshua Aaron Makell, 26, of Dunkirk, standing behind a black Toyota pickup truck. Trooper Towers observed the subject place something in his pocket. Trooper Towers approached the vehicle, and asked the subject his name. He advised that he was Joshua Makell. It was known by Trooper Towers that Makell had an outstanding arrest warrant on file, and placed him under arrest. Search of the subject and vehicle incident to arrest revealed a digital scale containing suspected cocaine residue, and a smoking device containing suspected marijuana residue. While searching the vehicle, another male, identified as Javier Rosado, 28, of St. Leonard, approached the pickup and stated that the vehicle belonged to him. Both subjects were arrested and transported to MSP Prince Frederick where they were charged with possession of CDS and possession of CDS paraphernalia. Both were transported to the Calvert County Detention Center.
