Lusby Man Dies in Single Vehicle Accident

PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (Jan. 17, 2008)—A 21-year-old Lusby man is dead and his passenger is in the hospital after a one car accident on Md. Rt. 231 at Yardley Hills in Prince Frederick last night. Brad Alan Fowler, 21 of Lusby, was pronounced dead on the scene due to injuries sustained in the crash. The accident occurred shortly after 9 p.m.

Police say Fowler was driving a 1994 Honda Civic 2 door sedan traveling eastbound on Md. Rt. 231 in the area of Old Time Lane. Fowler crossed the double yellow line and was traveling eastbound in the westbound lane. Police believe Fowler attempted to correct the vehicle at which time he lost control and struck the curb on the eastbound side of Md. Rt. 231. The vehicle continued eastbound off the road and struck a light pole, a utility pole and a tree. It then overturned and came to rest in the intersection of Yardley Drive and Md. Rt. 231. Fowler was ejected from the vehicle.

A passenger in the vehicle, Charles Albert Jost, Jr., 22, of Prince Frederick, initially trapped inside the vehicle, was taken to Prince George’s Hospital Center in Cheverly by Maryland State Police Trooper 7 helicopter where he is presently listed in stable condition.

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by Dep. Edwin Bradley of the Calvert County Sheriff's Office Crash Reconstruction Unit.
