MSP Reports for Calvert County


PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (Jan. 10, 2008) - The Prince Frederick Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

POSSESSION COCAINE/MARIJUANA: On Jan. 02, 1:00 PM, TPR Towers conducted a traffic stop at Cove Point Park, Lusby. Assisted by TFC Murphy and K-9 Remington, a CDS scan was performed. The K-9 alerted on the vehicle and a probable cause search produced a baggie of suspected marijuana and a baggie of suspected cocaine. Arrested at that time for possession of cocaine, marijuana, and CDS paraphernalia was [EXPUNGED]. After processing, he was transported to the CCDC to await a commissioner’s hearing.

BURGLARY: On Jan. 3, 1:02 AM, TPR Merkelson responded to an alarm at Town Square Auto Parts, Rt. 4, Dunkirk. Investigation revealed that an unknown culprit had forcibly entered the business and removed a Red Scorpion 6 HP generator.

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: During the overnight hours of Jan. 2, an unknown culprit used a rock to break the business sign of Julie Rogers Studio of Dance, Old Town Rd., Huntingtown. TPR Roy is handling the investigation.

POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA: On Jan. 3, 1:56 PM, H. G. Trueman Rd., Lusby, TPR Towers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. A computer check revealed that the tags displayed on the vehicle were expired and the operator, Daniel James Savage, 23, of Lusby, did not possess a valid driver’s license. Incident to arrest, a search of the vehicle produced a baggie of suspected marijuana. Mr. Savage was then charged with possession of marijuana and CDS paraphernalia. After processing, he was transported to the CCDC to await a commissioner’s hearing.

POSSESSION OF CDS PARAPHERNALIA: On Jan. 4, 1:27 PM, Duke St., Prince Frederick, TFC Stein stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. A computer check revealed that the operator, Leroy Mackall, 50, of Prince Frederick, was driving on a suspended/revoked license. Incident to arrest, 2 CDS smoking devices were located in the vehicle. Mr. Mackall was then charged with possession of CDS paraphernalia. Additionally, the passenger, Thomas Edward Lake, Jr., 25, of Prince Frederick, was charged with possession of CDS paraphernalia and issued a criminal citation. He was released upon signing the citation. Mr. Mackall was transported to the CCDC to await a commissioner’s hearing.

POSSESSION OF COCAINE/MARIJUANA: On Jan. 6, 12:50 AM, Rt. 2, Owings, TPR Merkelson stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. Upon contact with the operator, Kevin Wayne Murphy Morris, 24, of Huntingtown, TPR Merkelson detected the odor of suspected marijuana. Assisted by DFC Aurich, CCSO, a probable cause search produced 2 baggies containing suspected cocaine residue and 2 baggies of suspected marijuana. Mr. Morris was placed under arrest for possession of cocaine, marijuana, and CDS paraphernalia. After processing, he was transported to the CCDC to await a commissioner’s hearing.

POSSSESSION OF MARIJUANA: On Jan. 7, 1:18 AM, while conducting a patrol check at the Park & Ride, H. G. Trueman Rd., Lusby, TFC Keen observed a suspicious vehicle. Upon contact with the occupants, TFC Keen detected the odor of suspected marijuana. A probable cause search was conducted and a CDS smoking device containing suspected marijuana was located. Arrested at that time for possession of marijuana and CDS paraphernalia was Anthony Keith Askew, 27, of St. Inigoes. After processing, he was transported to the CCDC to await a commissioner’s hearing.
