La Plata Construction Company Part of Team Awarded 2nd Segment of Intercounty Connector

LA PLATA, Md. (Dec. 2, 2007)—La Plata's Facchina Construction Company, Inc. was recently selected to participate in the construction of the Maryland Intercounty Connector (ICC). The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) has announced the selection of a consortium of companies known as ICC Constructors (IC3) for the design and build of the second segment of ICC. IC3 is a joint venture consisting of Shirley Contracting Company, LLC; Clark Construction Group, LLC; Guy F. Atkinson Construction, LLC; Facchina Construction Company, Inc. and Trumbull Corporation.

The second segment of the ICC, known as Contract C, is a $513.9 million contract which includes design and construction of approximately four miles of the highway from west of US 29 to east of I-95, approximately two miles of Collector-Distributor roadway along I-95, as well as two interchanges at US 29 and I-95.

There are five separate contracts for the 18+ mile ICC which will connect the I-270/I-370 corridor in Montgomery County to Prince George’s County’s I-95 US1.

The IC3 team will begin design of the project by the end of the year and construction is scheduled to begin in early 2008.

“We are excited to be part of the team awarded this second important contract for the ICC,” said Paul V. Facchina, Sr. President of Facchina Construction Company, Inc. in a statement. “We look forward to beginning construction and continuing our relationship with the SHA and our dedication to this landmark project.”

Facchina Construction Company is a general contractor that specializes in providing Heavy/highway, site development, concrete frames, and commercial development and construction products and services.
