Landover Man Drowns in Chesapeake Beach Swimming Pool


PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. - The Calvert County Sheriff's Office reported that a 24-year-old man drowned in a backyard swimming pool in Chesapeake Beach in the early morning hours of Wednesday, July 25, 2007. Police say that the victim is believed to have consumed drugs prior to drowning.

On Wednesday, July 25 at 3:27 a.m. members of the Calvert County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to Christiana Parran Road, Chesapeake Beach regarding a possible drowning. Upon arrival they discovered a black male, later identified as Grandville Evans, Jr., 24 of Landover, had been pulled from the backyard swimming pool by Virginia Quesenberry, a resident of the home.

Evans was transported to Calvert Memorial Hospital by EMS personnel where he was pronounced dead. As a result of a preliminary investigation, it appears that Mr. Evans had consumed drugs.
