Waldorf Youth Pinned Under Vehicle After Dirtbike Mishap

WALDORF, Md. - On June 28 at 1:10 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to the 6100 block of Red Squirrel Place in Waldorf for the report of a motor vehicle crash involving a dirtbike operator. Officers determined that a 16-year-old boy was operating a Yamaha 80 dirtbike on the wrong side of Red Squirrel Place when he observed a vehicle coming toward him. He laid the bike down, became separated from the bike, slid under the Mazda and became pinned between the Mazda’s two front tires.

Emergency medical services personnel arrived on the scene and extracted him. He sustained serious injuries and was flown to Prince George’s Hospital Center where he is said to be in stable condition.

Police say he was not wearing a helmet.

The driver of the Mazda, David Henry Draher, 19, of Waldorf, was not injured.

Cpl. R. Taylor of the Traffic Operations Unit is investigating.
