Two Arsons Reported in So. Md. Early Saturday Morning


SOUTHERN MARYLAND - The Maryland State Fire Marshall reported two separate arson-related fires that occurred early this morning approximately 75 minutes apart.

The first incident happened at 3:30 a.m. at a two story townhouse on the 21000 block of Old Missouri Avenue in Lexington Park, Md. Authorities believe someone threw an ignitable liquid onto the front door and started the fire. The occupant discovered the fire and was able to extinguish it. Damage is estimated at $500.

The second incident occurred at 4:43 a.m. An unknown suspect set fire to the interior passenger compartment of a 1994 Dodge Caravan on Bannister Circle, Underwood Court in Waldorf. The fire was discovered by a passerby. Four firemen from the Waldorf VFD were able to extinguish the fire within 5 minutes of their arrival. Damage is estimated at $3,000.
