St. Mary's County Sheriff's Reports


LEONARDTOWN, Md. - The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Department today released the following incident and arrest reports.

William Jerome Tolson (Age 32 of No Fixed Address) was arrested by Deputy David Goff for Escape Second Degree. Suspect Tolson failed to report to the Detention Center after to being ordered to do so.

Vanessa Marie Long (Age 21 of Mechanicsville) was arrested by Deputy Douglas Harris on an open warrant. The Circuit Court warrant was related to "Violation of Probation" on the original charge of Robbery.

Joseph Allen Horan (Age 43 of Hughesville) was arrested by Deputy Douglas Harris for Failure to Appear.

Rose Bernice Knott (Age 53 of Leonardtown) was arrested by Deputy Joseph Somerville for Failure to Appear in the District Court.

Michael John Weigand (Age 31 of Leonardtown) was arrested by Deputy Shaun Carberry for Failure to Appear.

Peter Michael Karis (Age 34 of Great Mills) was arrested by Deputy A.J. Dodson for Failure to Pay Child Support.

Jeffrey Brian McMichael Jr. (Age 23 of Hughesville) was arrested on a Failure to Appear warrant through the District Court of Charles County. Deputy Anthony Whipkey made the arrest.

Tashibra Nicole Briscoe (Age 27 of Lexington Park) was arrested for Failure to Appear by Deputy Douglas Harris.

Deputy Kevin Somerville located a vehicle in the California area that was broadcasted as part of a lookout. The front seat passenger of the vehicle was observed by a citizen, preparing a marijuana "blunt". The citizen called the violation in to 911. Deputy Somerville conducted a vehicle stop to find the operator's privilege to operate a vehicle was suspended and revoked. The vehicle emitted a strong odor of burnt marijuana. A half burnt marijuana "blunt" was recovered from the front seat passenger, Suspect Anthony Ray Foks (Age 22 of Leonardtown). The operator of the vehicle, Suspect Keith Louis Lyles (age 23 of Bryantown, Md.) was searched incident to arrest, revealing a baggie of marijuana inside his underwear.

Deputy Joseph Somerville arrested Thomas Matthew Quinn (Age 41 of Lexington Park) for Failure to Appear.

Brian Thomas Elkins (Age 39 of Huntingtown, Md.) was served a Criminal Summons by Deputy Douglas Harris for passing a worthless check.

Mark David Alexander (Age 56 of Valley Lee) was arrested by Deputy Anthony Whipkey for Possession of Marijuana and related smoking devices. A School Bus Driver called and reported a vehicle that failed to stop while she was off loading students. Deputy Whipkey located the vehicle and found that the Suspect was in possession of marijuana and smoking devises.

Kevin Wendell Barnes (Age 37 of Lexington Park) was a passenger inside a vehicle that was stopped for a traffic violation. Deputy Robert Merritt requested a warrant check on Suspect Barnes and found that he had an open warrant through Calvert County. A search incident to that arrest revealed a quantity of cocaine, marijuana and a related smoking device.

Deputy Peggy Smolarsky began an investigation into a burglary at a California business. Stolen from the business were four (4) empty beer kegs. A possible vehicle was developed and Deputy Anthony Whipkey stopped the vehicle, locating six (6) kegs inside, four from the burglary being investigated. The other two were allegedly stolen from another jurisdiction. Suspect Eugene Vinson III (Age 27 of District Heights, Maryland was arrested and charged with Burglary 2nd and 4th Degree, Possession of Burglary Tools and Theft under $100.00. Suspect Vinson was transporting the stolen kegs to become scrape metal for the cash.
