MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. - The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

On Thursday, February 8, 2007 at 2:24 pm, TFC Nims responded to a report of an assault at the Leonardtown Middle School. Contact was made with the principal, Ms. Woodley. She advised two 13 year old males were fighting in a classroom. Both males were charged with assault, the parents were notified and both males were released to the principal's custody.

On Thursday, February 8, 2007 at 10:13 pm, TFC Grimes responded to Rt. 5 north of Mohawk Drive in Charlotte Hall to assist TFC Rossignol with a roadside check welfare. TFC Grimes made contact with the driver, Tonya Lenore Sheppard, 36, of Mechanicsville. A strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emitting from her breath. During the course of the traffic stop, Ms. Sheppard was arrested for DUI. A search incident to arrest revealed she was in possession of a small plastic bag of marijuana. Ms. Sheppard was charged with possession of marijuana and DUI. She was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center pending a bond review.

On Friday, February 9, 2007 at 4:24 pm, TFC Nims observed a red Dodge Intrepid with an equipment violation on Rt. 235 in Lexington Park. A traffic stop was initiated and contact was made with the driver, Donald Lewis Bryan, 27, of Waldorf. A MVA check of his driver's license revealed he was driving on a suspended Maryland license. Mr. Bryan was arrested for Driving While Suspended. During the course of the traffic stop, Mr. Bryan was found to be in possession of 3 small bags of marijuana and charged with possession of marijuana. He was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center pending a bond review.

On Friday, February 9, 2007 at 7:30 pm, TFC Grimes and Tpr Evans observed a blue Toyota Highlander exceeding the posted speed limit on All Faiths Church Road, in Mechanicsville. A traffic stop was initiated and contact was made with the driver, Walter Alan Neff, 42, of Mechanicsville. During the course of the traffic stop, Mr. Neff was found to be in possession of marijuana and a CDS smoking device. He was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center pending a bond review.

On Saturday, February 10, 2007 at 2:50 am, TFC Evans responded to a report of an assault in the 21000 block of Carmen Woods Drive in Lexington Park. Contact was made with the female victim, 26, of Lexington Park. She advised she was assaulted by the male suspect, 37, of Lexington Park who left the scene on foot. Investigation continues charging the male suspect with 2nd degree assault.

On Saturday, February 10, 2007 at 4:34 am, TFC Koch responded to the 46000 block of Flower Drive in Lexington Park for a reported violation of protective order. TFC Koch contacted the female complainant, 24, of Lexington Park. She advised her husband, 28 of Lexington Park violated the protective order on two occasions this date. The second instance is when he overturned the furniture and fled the scene. Investigation continues as charges are pending.

On Sunday, February 11, 2007 at 5:30 pm, Tpr Shughart observed a gray Chevrolet Malibu exceeding the posted speed limit on Rt. 235 north of Rt. 245 in Hollywood. When contact was made with the driver, George Derrick Gross, 36, of Lexington Park, a strong odor of marijuana was detected emitting from the vehicle. During the course of the traffic stop, Mr. Gross was arrested for possession of marijuana and a deadly weapon, a homemade bat. He was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center pending a bond review.
