BPW Approves $829,325 in Program Open Space Funds for Charles County


ANNAPOLIS - Yesterday, Governor Robert L. Ehrlich, Jr. announced that the Board of Public Works (BPW) approved $749,325 in Program Open Space funds for the acquisition of Edelen Farm, 174.6 acres of a conservation easement located in the Zekiah Watershed Rural Legacy Area in Charles County.

The BPW also approved $80,000 in Program Open Space funds for Robert D. Stethem Park in Charles County. The funds will be used for new playground equipment and landscaping.

The BPW is composed of Governor Ehrlich, Comptroller William Donald Schaefer, and Treasurer Nancy K. Kopp.

Established under the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) in 1969, Program Open Space provides funds for state and local parks and conservation areas.
