Newburg Man Arrested for Assaulting Woman at White House Motel

LA PLATA, Md. - According to the Charles County Sheriff’s Office, on Dec. 8 at 12:45 a.m., officers responded to the White House Motel located at 11150 Crain Highway in Glasva for the report of an assault.

As Officer C. Caldwell arrived on the scene and exited his vehicle, the suspect fled on foot. The suspect was quickly apprehended in the front parking lot.

The officer's investigation revealed the suspect had assaulted the victim, a 24-year-old Hollywood, Md., woman by picking her up by her throat and throwing her to the ground several times. When a citizen attempted to come to the assistance of the victim, the suspect brandished a knife and threatened the citizen.

Officers identified the suspect as Andre Laron Daniels, 30, of Newburg. Daniels was arrested and charged with first- and second-degree assault and was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before the district court commissioner.

The victim was transported by ambulance to St. Mary’s Hospital with minor injuries.
