CALIFORNIA, Md. - The St. Mary’s County Division of Tourism and the St. Mary’s County Charter Boat Captains Association announced the winners of the “Rockin’ and Reel-in” fishing contest on Monday, November 6, at the St. Mary’s County Chamber of Commerce offices in California, Maryland.
The cash prize of $2,000 for the longest rockfish at 37” was awarded to Alton Miller of Owings, MD. A prize of $1,500 for the longest blue fish at 20” was awarded to Lori Rennen of Silver Spring, MD, and $500 for the longest Croaker at 13-1/4” was awarded to Tim Kost of Ashburn, Virginia.
The contest sponsors, The Tackle Box, Inc., and Guy Distributing Company, were also recognized.
Qualifying fish had to be caught aboard a registered, participating St. Mary’s County Charter boat. More than twenty captains took part in the contest.
