County Government Closings for Election Day and Veterans Day

SOUTHERN MARYLAND - All three local county governments have modified schedules on Election Day, Tuesday, November 7, and/or Veterans Day, Friday, November 10.


The Offices of the Charles County Government, and the Tri-County Animal Shelter in Hughesville, MD, will be closed on Election Day and Veterans Day.

The Charles County Sanitary Landfill, Recycling Center and Composting Facility in Waldorf, and the Pisgah Recycling Center will be open. Curbside recycling service will not be affected.

The Charles County Commissioners will not be in session on Monday, November 6, or on Election Day, November 7.


St. Mary's County Government Offices will be closed on Friday, November 10, 2006, in observance of Veteran's Day.

There will be no Board of County Commissioners' Meeting on Tuesday, November 7, 2006. The next regular meeting of the Board will be Tuesday, November 14, 2006.

The St. Andrews Landfill, six (6) Convenience Centers, and St. Mary's Transit System (STS) will be operating normal business hours on Friday, November 10, 2006 and prior to and after the observed holiday.


In Calvert County, the Appeal Landfill and all Compactor Sites will be open on Veteran's Day. The Calvert Marine Museum will also be open. All other agencies and departments, including public transportation, will not be working that day.
