The following information is current as of 5:30 p.m.

Roll-off Boxes & Portable Restrooms

To assist homeowners that were affected by Tropical Storm Ernesto, St. Mary's County Department of Public Works & Transportation has currently located roll-off boxes for the removal of debris (not yard waste). Roll-off boxes are intended for the use by those property owners immediately adjacent to the following locations; St. Georges Island Improvement Association property, Murray Rd along the waterfront, Lighthouse Rd, Rodo Beach Rd, Lady Baltimore Avenue in St. Clements Shores, Bayview Rd in Coltons Point. Roll-off boxes may be utilized for the deposition of furniture, appliances, textiles, food waste, carpet, padding, insulation, sheet rock, etc.

Portable restrooms are also currently located at the following locations: St. Georges Island Improvement Association property, Murray Rd. and St. Clement's Island Potomac River Museum parking lot.

Yard Waste Drop-off Locations

St. Mary's County Department of Public Works and Transportation has also established two locations that will accept yard waste only, free of charge. Yard waste includes logs, limbs, stumps, brush, and leaves. All other solid waste must go to the landfill and convenience centers. Look for the "Yard Debris Burn Site" signs located at each entrance. Beginning September 3, 2006, both sites will be open from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM seven days a week until further notice.

The two sites are located as follows: the Kessler Development Company sight, adjacent to Kessler Body and Equipment Company on Three Notch Road in Dameron; and the Knott's site on Piney Point Road, MD Route 249, ½ mile south of Happyland Road in Valley Lee.
