MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


On Friday, June 16, 2006 at 7:11 pm, TFC T. Quade stopped a vehicle, Pegg Road at Donaldson Drive, Lexington Park, when the driver was observed not wearing a seatbelt. Upon contact with the driver, Robert Anthony Elam, 49, of Lexington Park, an odor of marijuana was detected. A probable cause search revealed a smoking device, containing marijuana, in the center console. Mr. Elam was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and possession of CDS paraphernalia. He was taken to the detention center and held pending a bond review. (0682006533)

On Saturday, June 17, 2006 at 10:39 pm, Cpl. J. Vanhoy observed two vehicles proceed into the Stanley Martin construction site off Dahlia Drive, California, driving by a “No Trespassing” sign. The vehicles proceeded through the dirt and mud to an open field. After approximately 5 minutes the vehicles exited. The vehicles were stopped and the drivers identified. A representative from Stanley Martin Inc. advised that they will pursue trespassing charges. This case remains open pending charges against the drivers. (0682006576)

On Sunday, June 18, 2006 at 2:14 pm, TFC T. Quade, while working in plain clothes at Budds Creek Maryland Super Cross Track, arrested Dovid Elias Kanfee, 20, of Olney. Mr. Kanfee was charged with possession of marijuana after he was observed smoking a hand rolled cigarette containing marijuana. Mr. Kanfee was taken to the detention center and held pending a bond review. (0682006609)

On Sunday, June 18, 2006 at 6:18 pm, TFC J. Linger stopped Julius Andre Redmond, 41, of Bushwood, for not wearing a helmet while operating a motorcycle on Pleasant Lane at Upland Drive in Bushwood. A check through MVA indicated Mr. Redmond’s driving privilege was suspended, and the motorcycle was unregistered. A check through NCIC revealed that the tags displayed had been reported stolen through Alexandria PD. Mr. Redmond was arrested and charged with theft under $500 and numerous traffic violations. He was taken to the detention center and held pending a bond review. (0682006615)

On Thursday, June 22, 2006 at 10:30 pm, Tpr. K. Shughart responded to Bell Motors, Leonardtown, for a disorderly subject. Carlos Lee Eastwood 2nd, 46, no fixed address, was advised to leave the citizens alone. On June 23, 2006 at 1:29 am, Tpr. Shughart responded to Mattingly’s Food Store, Leonardtown, for a disorderly subject. Again Mr. Eastwood was told to leave the citizens alone and stop creating a disturbance. At 2:45 am, TFC L. Nims responded to Dash-In, Leonardtown, for a disorderly subject. On TFC Nims’ arrival, Mr. Eastwood was observed making a disturbance and harassing the citizens. Mr. Eastwood was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. He was taken to the detention center and held pending a bond review. (0682006797)

On Friday, June 23, 2006 at 2:23 pm, TFC J. Linger stopped a vehicle on Route 235 at Beck Road, Hollywood, when the operator made an abrupt turn causing traffic to take evasive actions to avoid a collision. Upon contact with the driver, Thomas Alvin Beach Jr., 28, of Hollywood, marijuana was observed on the floorboard. A probable cause search was conducted and a straw, containing cocaine, was located under the driver’s seat. A check through MVA indicated Mr. Beach’s driving privilege was suspended. Mr. Beach was arrested and transported to the detention center. A search at the detention center revealed a bag of marijuana in Mr. Beach’s pants. He was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, possession of CDS paraphernalia, and numerous traffic violations. He was held pending a bond review. (0682006813)

On Friday, June 23, 2006 at 1020 pm, TFC T. Quade stopped a vehicle on Route 235 at David Way, Lexington Park, for speeding. Upon contact with the driver, Dwight Andrew Wells Jr., 22, of Riverdale, an odor of marijuana was detected. A probable cause search revealed a two smoking devices, containing marijuana, under the driver’s seat and two bags of marijuana on the passenger floorboard. Mr. Wells was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and possession of CDS paraphernalia. He was taken to the detention center and held pending a bond review. (0682006827)

On Saturday, June 24, 2006 at 1:23 am, TFC L. Nims stopped a vehicle on Route 235 at Wildwood Blvd, California, for failing to drive in a single lane. A check through NCIC indicated the passenger, Teresa Diane Ventre, 49, of Hollywood, had an outstanding arrest warrant for uttering bad checks. A search incident to arrest revealed marijuana under the dashboard. Located in Ms. Ventre’s purse was a bottle containing percocet, for which she had no prescription. Ms. Ventre was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of percocet and possession of CDS paraphernalia. The driver, Christopher Allan Goddard, 31, of Leonardtown was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and possession of CDS paraphernalia. Both were taken to the detention center and held pending a bond review. (0682006837)

On Saturday, June 24, 2006 at 12:02 pm, TFC J. Linger stopped a vehicle on Charlotte Hall Road at Golden Beach Road, Charlotte Hall, when he observed the tag on the boat trailer was expired. Due to the driver’s, Ronald David Lewis 3rd, 28, of LaPlata, actions an officer safety pat down was conducted. Recovered from his pants pocket was a bag of marijuana. Mr. Lewis was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and possession of CDS paraphernalia. He was taken to the detention center and held pending a bond review. (0682006849)

On Saturday, June 24, 2006 at 3:55 pm, Tpr. T. Long responded to J & J Automotives for a reported theft. Witnesses advised they observed the known suspect remove a scanning tool, valued at $3,400, from the storage area and flee the scene. Contact was made with the suspect. He responded to the State Police Barrack and returned the item. Case is open pending charges against the suspect. (0682006851)

Due to the driver’s, Michael Lee Shaffier, 27, of Mechanicsville, actions an officer safety pat down was conducted. Recovered from his pants pocket was a bag of marijuana.
