On 05-05-2006 at 1908 hours a 17 year old student of Chopticon High School died as the result of a two vehicle collision on Maddox Road in Chaptico, St. Mary's County Maryland.

Christina M. Quesenberry, age 17, of Mechanicsville, Maryland was the driver of a 1999 Honda Civic northbound on Maddox Road near Notley Hall Road. The driver lost control of the vehicle on the wet road surface as she descended down a steep hill and began to slide. The vehicle crossed over the center lines and struck a guard rail on the southbound road side then was struck in the passenger's side by a southbound 2005 Ford Expedition. The driver of the Expedition, Vivian D. Gaston of Bushwood, Maryland was treated and released from St. Mary's Hospital for Non-Incapacitating injuries. Christina Quesenbery was critically injured as a result of the collision and died at St. Mary's Hospital.

There were no contributing circumstances on the part of the driver of the Expedition uncovered by the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office Collision Reconstruction Investigative Team. Driver error and wet road surface are believed to be contributing factors in the collision. Both vehicle occupants were properly restrained by seatbelts at the time of the collision. Alcohol or drugs are not believed to be involved in the collision.
